Warner Classics has signed an exclusive agreement with violinist Daniel Lozakovich.

Still aged just 23, the Stockholm-born soloist has already achieved considerable acclaim on record, having been signed by Deutsche Grammophon at just 15 years old. His recording of Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto was chosen by Mark Pullinger as his top version in his Collection feature in January 2023. 'Utterly gorgeous tone and a sense of "old school" style make this an account that connects the listener to the great performers of the past,' Pullinger wrote.

More recently, his album 'Spirits' drawing on works by Brahms, Debussy, Elgar, Falla, Gluck and Kreisler, earned praised from reviewer Amy Blier-Carruthers in July last year.

Lozakovich’s first album for his new label is due for release in August 2024, for which he’ll be joined on piano by Mikhail Pletnev. It will feature Franck’s Sonata for Violin and Piano, Grieg’s Violin Sonata No 3 and ‘Solveig’s Song’ from Peer Gynt, Shostakovich’s ‘Romance’ from The Gadfly and a Violin Sonata jointly composed by Alexi Shor and Pletnev himself.

According to President of Warner Classics & Erato Alain Lanceron, ‘While very much a young player of today, he is an artist whose poetry and integrity place him in the great tradition of the 20th-century violinists who set the benchmarks for the recorded catalogue.’

Commenting on his move, Lozakovich said: ‘My main goal in joining this legendary label is to have artistic freedom, create a musical world, and record works of immortal beauty with musicians I love. For me, making music is a spiritual key to unlocking the truth of the soul.’
